Autumn beside the lake....

The banks had passed the height of their beauty, and some of the brighter flowers showed by their faded tints that the season was verging towards the afternoon of the year.  In short, Nature seemed to have adorned herself....with a profusion of fringes and curls, mingled with the bright tints of flowers, reflected in the water.

                                                -Henry David Thoreau

Last eve I saw a beauty contest brief between a rainbow and an autumn leaf.  The message of the leaves in their cycles from bud to green to red to brown is that we should experience everything in it's season.

                                                -Unknown

A haze on the far horizon,  The infinite, tender sky, The ripe, rich tint of the cornfields, And the wild geese flying high; And all over upland and lowland The charm of the goldenrod, Some of us call it Autumn, And others call it God.

                                              - William Herbert Carruth
